Up the Yangtze

Before I explain the title, on my way out of the Hamble a couple of days ago this waterborne projectile came hurtling down Southampton Water at a great rate of knots. (Not my photo, no time to grab the camera, but completely representative). After a wide high speed sweep ahead of me it came to rest to shoreward and revealed itself to be "XSR".
I won't attempt to explain its purpose - it's all here, and no, I'm not the sailboat in the introductory movie! http://www.xsmgworld.com/defence/index.html
On to something more eco-friendly and profoundly more interesting to a sailor.
Back in November last year I posted a photo of "Dragonfly", an attractive junk-rigged ketch making its way along the coast toward Calshot.
I've spotted her a few times since and on one occasion her owner hailed me for a chat. In a light breeze he was able to run rings around "Misty" and explained that he had been inspired by the highly manoeuvrable junk-rigged craft in Hong Kong whilst working out there. Can't argue with that, what's more she is based in Ashlett and regularly sails in and out! Above he is sailing her into the Hamble. So was I but I had to start the outboard to keep pace!
Shallow draft inshore of the starboard channel marker posts.
Reaching majestically up the river. Figured out the Yangtze bit? Now enjoy a couple of short movie clips. If her owner wants to download any of these he's more than welcome.
